Chaturmas is the period of four months from Ashadh Shukla Ekadashi (Eleventh day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu lunar month of Ashadh) to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi (Eleventh day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu lunar month of Kartik) or Ashadh Pournima (Full-moon day) to Kartik Pournima.
It is said that during this period, demons become active and harass humans as the God goes sleep. Hence according to the scriptures one should protect self from these demons by undertaking a vrat (Vowed religious observance) during this period, hence during this period all the Seers take the Chaturmas Diksha, in which they do not go out of their designated place, cross rivers. Lets have a look at where Various Jagadgurus are taking their Chaturmas Diksha this year which is commencing on July 9 to 6th Septemeber.

Jagadguru of Sri Dakshnamnaya Sringeri Sharada Peetham H.H Sri Bharathi Theertha Swamy will be completing his chaturmas Deeksha in Sringeri. Kurtalam pontiff H.H Sri Siddeswarananda Bharathi shall be doing his Chaturmas Deeksha at Varnasi this year. And shall be staying at Andhra Ashram
