Hyderabad : Waqf Properties sealed at Midnight

Telangana State Waqf Board located in Hyderabad was sealed by Telangana State Revenue officials at late night raid on Tuesday, reportedly on the orders of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao. The raid was taken place one day before the Legislative Assembly was going to discuss minority welfare.

Hyderabad Collector Yogitha Rana, RDO Chandrakala, ex-CEO Asadullah, present CEO Mannan Farooqui, Minorities Welfare secretary Omar Jaleel were all present at the scene. There were reports that KCR was not satisfied with the responses he received from the Board on various matters discussed at a review meeting at CM’s official residence.

Telangana State Wakf Board chairman, Mohammed Saleem said, “I am told that the Chief Minister had a review meeting with board officials after which the order was given to the District Collector to seal the office. I was not present at the meeting but we are with the CM’s decision,” reported the Indian Express.

“There were around 100 officials from the police and revenue departments here. Most of the office is already sealed. We were given our phones around 11 pm,” a staff member told The Hindu.

Earlier this week, AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi had claimed that over 56,000 acres of endowment and temple lands as well as 57,424 acres of Waqf properties were under encroachment in Telangana. He said that Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and Hitec City were also constructed on Waqf lands.
