The Telangana State Wakf Board on Monday released Rs 8 crore for construction of walls to protect Muslim graveyards in the State and for the restoration and construction works for the Mecca Masjid and Anees-ul-Ghurba orphanage.
Wakf Board chairman Mohammed Saleem said that Rs 1 crore each was sanctioned for Mecca Masjid and Anees-ul-Ghurba and Rs 40 lakh for the graveyards in Hyderabad. He said Rs 2.80 crore was released for graveyards in Jagitial, while Rs 90 lakh was for those in Nizamabad, Rs 60 lakh for Karimnagar, Rs 57 lakh for Mahbubnagar, Rs 40 lakh for Nalgonda, Rs 39 lakh for Vikarabad, Rs 20 lakh for Ranga Reddy and Rs 20 lakh for Vanaparty district.
The State government had allocated a grant in ad for the Wakf Board from which the money has released for various development works of religious institutions, he added. Apart from this, Wakf Board has also provided Rs 22 lakh for 240 Muslim widows as pension.
