KUMBH 2019 : Mega Event, Magnanimous Preparations
Kumbh is huge in terms of area, arrangement and visitors. It is the largest religious fair of the world. Lets have a look how much big it is. The city of Prayagraj ( Allahabad) is prepared to astound the religious devotees, tourists and foreigners.
The Kumbh 2019 will start from 14th January, 2019 and it last till 4th March, 2019. During this period there are three royal bath dates, 14-15 January, 4th and 10 February. Apart from that there are five more special dates when millions gather to take a dip in the holy rivers.
3200 Hectare Land
9 Zones, 20 Sectors
4 Police Lines with 40 Police Thanas, 3 Mahila Thanas and 62 Police Outposts are being set up as a part of Kumbh Mela
4,200 premium tents
20,000 beds for public accomodation
Ganga Pandal to accommodate 10,000 people
1,22,000 toilets will be set up
20,000 dustbins
11,000 sanitation workers
40 compactors and 120 tippers will be used for the disposal of waste materials.
10 lakh Kalpvaasis
Around 4000 hotspots are being set up across the Mela Area for providing high speed Wi-Fi for all pilgrims and visitors.
A food court with over 40 food stalls will be set up this time.
48 milk booths will be set up by Mother Dairy and Amul.
Jetties at five places and planning to start point-to-point ferry services for pilgrims.
Widening of 116 roads across Prayagraj
10 road-over bridges (ROBs).

DISASTER MANAGEMENT
- Fire Hazard: to fight the disaster related to fire hazard, remedial measures has been taken by the authority that includes utility of modern and innovative firefighting tools. Standard operating procedure has been designed for better efficiency of mitigation strategies.
- Epidemic: All 10 super speciality departments provide specialised treatment to serious patients in Neurosurgery, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Oncosurgery, and CTVS Gastroenterology & Cardiology. Trauma centre to deal with crisis in 40-beded trauma care facility. One dedicated 30 bedded special ward and along with 5 beds in each super speciality at S.R.N. Hospital & other associated hospitals for Kumbh Mela pilgrims.
- Flood: To fight against flood situations in the Kumbh Mela area, standard operating procedures have been designed and communicated across all the departments. Flood response system is prepared with mitigation equipments such as lifebuoy, life jackets, jetty, sonar system, boats etc.
- Stampede: Disaster management facilities with dedicated team of doctors & paramedical staffs in case of burn injuries, drowning, stampede etc. with specialised kits. Every Police officer to be informed of traffic plan (including diversions and holdup areas) for prevention of diverting crowd in the wrong direction. Area in charge and inspectors to take stock of barricading arrangements every 2 hours every day to ensure movement of crowds in defined directions. Round the clock, CCTV monitoring of identified high-risk areas for diversion of crowd with appropriate utilisation of public announcement system. Stock emergency equipment and supplies at all high-risk areas (first aid kits, barriers, torches etc.)
