Bhavani Deeksha to kick start from October 31

Taking a cue from the Sabarimala, Ayyappa devotees,Vijayawada Kanakadurga devotes will take the 41-day Deeksha tomorrow, October 31, in the auspicious month of Karthika. To tackle the heavy rush of devotees, the temple management is making foolproof arrangements at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam. The conferment of 41-day Bhavani deeksha from October 31 and will continue till November 4, according to temple executive officer A Surya Kumari. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Surya Kumari said that this year, Bhavani deeksha begins on October 31 and the relinquishment will be observed between December 10 to 14.

The temple priests would also confer Artha Mandala deeksha between November 20 and 24. Rituals such as ‘Vigneshwara Puja,’ ‘Kalasa Sthapana’ and ‘Punyahavachanam’ would be performed in the temple signalling the commencement of the 41-day Bhavani deeksha on the temple premises on October 31. The EO also said that Agni Prathisthapana, Satha Chandi Homam and other rituals would be conducted as part of deeksha relinquishment.

The annual ‘Kalasa Jyothi Utsavam’ of Lord Malleswara Swamy and His consort Goddess Kanaka Durga will be taken out in a palanquin from Indrakeeladri on December 3 and will be placed on a decorated van at Sivaramakrishna Kshetram from where the procession will begin.

The procession will pass through the main thoroughfares of the city and reach Indrakeeladri. Purnahuti will be conducted on the temple premises on December 14 to mark the conclusion of Bhavani deeksha relinquishment, she said. For the second consecutive year, the devasthanam is also organising ‘Koti Deepothsavam’ ritual on November 3  at Arjun Street to mark the auspicious Karthika Masam. She called upon women to participate in the ritual for the wellbeing of their families. Temple Trust Board Chairman Y Gouranga Babu was also present at the news conference.
