Telangana Govt Issues Ban Orders On Swami Paripoornanda For 6 Months

In what could be a bizarre act by the Telangana government, it has externed Swami Paripoornanda from Hyderabad for six months allegedly making provocative statements. The spiritual leader, who was placed under house arrest here ahead of his proposed ‘Dharmagraha Yatra,’ (padayatra) for two days later yesterday was externed.

Swami Paripoornanda is popular for his discourses and vocal expressions on various issues. Though the Swami has been spelling out his thoughts on different issue never was he rated as a controversial person or a spiritual guru who loves be in the news for all reasons. He was considered to be a simpleton with his thought provoking discourses has impressed one and all.

The head of Sri Peetham of Kakinada Swami Paripoornananda was externed from Hyderabad city for next six months under Telangana Prevention of Anti-Social and Hazardous Activities Act, the police said.

On July 9, the Swami was put under house arrest at a house owned by a real estate firm in Jubilee Hills here ahead of his paadayatra, in protest against the recent statements and campaigns in social media and electronic media against Hindu deities.

As part of the externment proceedings the Swami was shifted out of the city, another seniorpolice official said adding the orders were issued over his alleged provocative statements made earlier at different events and meetings across the state.

Swami Paripoornananda had recently demanded arrest of Telugu actor and movie critic Kathi Mahesh, (who too has been externed from Hyderabad), over his alleged statements against Hindu deities and said he “hurt” the sentiments of the Hindus.

However, the permission for organising counter protest/agitation programmes against Mahesh’s statements were not permitted by police in any part of the state.

On July 9, Kathi Mahesh, also a filmmaker, who was booked by police for allegedly making statements “disrespecting” Hindu deities, was externed from Hyderabad city for six months.

Meanwhile, the politicians are trying to make the best of the situation and are using it as an opportunity to strike at the ruling Telangana government. The state BJP president Dr K Laxman condemned the externment of a spiritual leader, Swami Paripoornanada from the city for six months for allegedly making provocative speeches targeting other communities and their leaders. Speaking to media here today, he said this was a government conspiracy to snub the promotion of Hindu religion. He pointed out that while people who made derogatory remarks on Lord Rama, whom crores of people pray, go scot-free, those who try to safeguard Hindu dharma are being harassed by the government. “It is not fair to house arrest and now extern him from entering the city for six months,” he said.

The BJP leader called upon the government officials and police to reconsider the ban orders on Swami Paripoornanada. He demanded the government to take action against AIMIM leaders who have been insulting Hindu Gods. He demanded that the government should immediately withdraw all the cases filed against Swami. The action of the government only pointed out that we are living in a dictatorship.

He further said that the days of the TRS government are numbered. By denying basic rights provided by the Constitution to the citizens, the TRS government was digging its own grave. People will teach a proper lesson to chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his government. The ban orders on Swami Paripoornanada should be withdrawn immediately and the Swami should be brought back to city, he added.
