AUSTRIA

YIDL Vienna takes part in IDY celebration of the Indian Embassy
On 16 June, the Indian Embassy in Austria celebrated the 5th International Yoga Day in the Vienna City Park near the Johann Strauss monument. The program was opened by H.E. Ms Renu Pall, Ambassador of India, who recalled the significance of the International Yoga Day in bringing together people for health, harmony and peace, as unanimously proclaimed by the United Nations five years ago at the initiative of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mrs Mag. Silvia Friedrich from the Vienna City Council sent greetings from the Mayor of Vienna. This was followed by a mantra prayer for world peace and the wellbeing of all living beings by Ms. Neelam Vats, a teacher of Indian culture.

Swami Umapuri of Yoga in Daily Life moderated and guided the general practice section, asanas, pranayama and meditation, which were also performed on stage by students of Yoga in Daily Life and several other yoga groups from Vienna, among them Sivananda Yoga and Art of Living. At the end of the program, the Peace Mantra was sung.

Numerous members of Yoga in Daily Life and other yoga schools in Vienna participated in this event, with more than 300 people of all ages interested in yoga being inspired by this yoga day.

On Friday 21 June, there will be a free and public meditation at 7pm in the Yoga in Daily Life Center, Trubelgasse 19, 1030 Vienna, guided by Swami Umapuri. All yoga friends are invited to join this program on the International Day of Yoga.

CZECH REPUBLIC

YIDL Prague takes part in IDY celebrations of the Indian Embassy

On 15 June, the Embassy of India to the Czech Republic organized a celebration of International Day of Yoga at Strelecký Ostrov island in the heart of Prague, Czech Republic. H.E. Mrs. Narinder Chauhan, Ambassador of India, launched the event along with Jan Lajka from Yoga in Daily Life Prague association and Hope from Art of Living Foundation. Dozens of Yoga in Daily Life teachers and practitioners joined in the celebration and altogether over 200 people took part in the event.

Ambassador Chauhan welcomed all the participants, highlighting Indian spiritual heritage, and thanked Prague authorities and Yoga in Daily Life for their support for organization of the celebration.

The event started a week-long celebration of the International Day of Yoga in the Czech Republic. Dozens of Yoga in Daily Life associations in the Czech Republic are organizing various celebrations throughout the country. The main event organized by Yoga in Daily Life in Prague will take place on 21 June from 4:30 p.m. at Charles Square – the largest historical square in the Czech capital. All yoga enthusiasts living in or visiting Prague are welcome to join in!

CROATIA

YIDL Croatia celebrates IDY 2019

This year the International Day of Yoga will be marked in 40 different locations around Croatia, fourteen of which Yoga in Daily Life is organizing in cooperation with the Indian Embassy.

This year’s events began in Varaždin and Labin on Friday 14 June, and a day later, on 15 June, celebrations took place in SplitKarlovacLabinUmag and the central celebration was in Zagreb.

In Labin and Zagreb, local representatives of the city warmly welcomed people to the gatherings. The central celebration in Zagreb was opened by His Excellency Mr Arindam Bagchi, the Indian ambassador in Croatia, accompanied for the entire program by other representatives and employees of the Embassy in Zagreb, participating in the practice, as were the US ambassador and Croatian parliamentary representative, Mr. Veljko Kajtazi. The Zagreb event was supported by more than 200 practitioners and was reported by the media in daily newspapers, news reports on all major TV networks, on the internet, and on the State Radio. The Indian Embassy organized a vegetarian meal for all participants at the end.

On Sunday 16 June, the International Day of Yoga celebrations continued in SamoborNovigrad and Vukovar:

In Novigrad, a special guest, Shri H. K. Narula, the second secretary of the Indian Embassy, the organizers and all present, were greeted by Mrs Vesna Ferenac, director of the Novigrad Tourist Board. After the refreshing practice, practitioners enjoyed vegetarian delicacies.

In Vukovar, practicing passed in an especially pleasant and joyful atmosphere, together with the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy, Mr J.N. Majhi and a representative of the city. The event was reported by local media: TV OsijekTV Vinkovci and Radio Vukovar.
