Delhi NCR. At this time, the whole world is in the grip of corona virus, in such a situation many social institutions and society have come forward for their work. These mobilizers have started relief work to help the corona virus victims and other needy people.

Among these social workers, Yogacharya Arunkumarji, founder of Pranashakti India, also started relief work to serve the needy.

Under the Coronavirus bandh, thousands of daily wage earners have no means of earning a daily meal. These are street vendors, taxi and rickshaw drivers, maids, sweepers and their families who run our cities – they have no means of earning their daily food. 10 million of them live in slums in Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida.

Despite government efforts, there are still many people who need help. Pranashakti India, working with its volunteers, catering partners and Delhi Police, has been distributing twice daily meals since March 27, using its own funds and through personal contacts. Earlier, 500 people were given 1 time meal every day, but from April 1, both times food was served. From April 5, daily food was provided to 1000 people daily. The volunteer group of Pranashakti India got permission to distribute the food directly.

By 3 May the number of needy daily wage laborers rose to 2,100, requiring daily food during lockdown. Since 14 May, the voluntary group of Pranashakti India has assisted in providing food and other supplies to the migrant laborers. Pranashakti India is providing daily food to about 2600 daily wage laborers affected by the lockdown on their behalf and through the donation amount.

Pranashakti India continued this service work even during Lockdown 4. During this time around 150000 migrant brothers / sisters were served food and donors have also contributed close to Rs. 2,600,000 for this.

The food items that each person receives daily are as follows – A vegetable / dal gravy (250 grams) with a rice item (450 grams) morning meal ,5 roti / puri roti (200 gms) and one vegetable / dal (250 gms) evening meal

As Lockdown 4 has also finished now and the government has released some Unlock 1 and Lockdown 5 in some places till 30th June. But Pranashakti India is increasing its target to continue the work for an additional 1 month. It costs Rs 94,000 per day for cereals, vegetables, oils, and spices. It does not include cooking, packaging and distribution costs as direct donors are giving money to those people.

Money is being raised to provide food with the help of individual supporters in India, Singapore and America. Pranashakti India appeals to people for donation. Your help will help the aggrieved people to get food during the corona period.
