It is necessary to keep fast on Ganesh Chaturdashi or do only fruit.

Worship the idol installed in the house duly.

Offer coconut, Shami Patra, and coach in worship.

After that take the idol for immersion.

If the idol is small, keep it on the lap or head.

While carrying the idol, be sure to scatter it in the Akshata house dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

For that, fill water in a vessel and immerse the idol of Ganesha in it.

After that, the soil can be used in plants.

But do not offer this water in Tulsi because Tulsi is prohibited in Ganpati worship.
