Dharma Sansad – Hinduism Conclave in Udupi

For the first time in the country, a huge and mass gathering of religious leaders as well as others connected with Hindu religion would be gathering at Udupi for three days programme called Dharma Sansad. This is considered to be one of the most important gathering of Hindu leaders and is being organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) from November 24.

Hinduism is not just a religion but it is a way of life, and true to this many leaders, sadhus and sants from all over the country and abroad will be participating in Dharma Sansad.

Earlier, a huge Dharma Sansad was held in city in 1985. During that year there was controversial Babri Masjid lock out issue. VHP strongly demanded the unlocking of gates of Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid which had been locked for decades. The saints and seers had then decided to break the lock. Veer Bahadur Singh of Congress was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and late Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister at this time. After so much of pressure from the public, the Rajiv Gandhi had decided to unlock the gates before the date of court order.

This year, the Dharma Sansad would be inaugurated by Shivakumar Mahaswami of Siddaganga Mutt, Tumakuru, and Veerasomeshwara Rajadesikendra Shivacharya Swami, Ramabhapuri, at the Royal Gardens, here at 10 a.m. on Friday.
